Changes have been made to the Lightening Lane reservation system.  We wanted less time on your phones in the park and more time focused on our family in the moment.  We wanted to get more sleep.  We wanted preplanning abilities similar to the old FastPass+ system. Most importantly, we wanted an advantage to staying on Disney property. Disney Delivered and it all begins July 24th, 2024! 

Same Paid for Service with Modified Names

When Disney first introduced the “paid for fastpass system” you purchased Genie+ in order to receive access for reserving Lightning Lane times.  Disney sent the Genie back to their bottle and made the wording simpler and streamlined.  You now have two purchase options: 

1. Lightning Lane MultiPass – formally named Genie+ which gave access to reserving Lightning Lanes
2. Lightning Lane Single Pass – formally Individual Lightening Lane

Purchasing The Different Lightening Lane Options

Lightning Lane MultiPass

• Advance Booking: Book up to three experiences per day, up to 7 days before check-in, for Disney Resort guests. Offsite Guests may book 3 days in advance.  This gives a marked advantage to those who stay on Disney Property. 
• Group System: Select one experience from Group 1 (most popular) and two from Group 2 (other attractions). More on that below. 
• Park Hopping: While visiting the parks after using your first Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection, book additional experiences in any park. There is no Group 1 or Group 2 day of and selections will likely be limited. 

Lightning Lane Single Pass

• Top Attractions: Limited to two per day for high-demand rides:  Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Tron Lightcycle/Run, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Avatar Flight of Passage, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. 
• Flexible Booking: These attractions can be purchased separately or with a MultiPass, one per attraction per day.

Grouped Attractions by Popularity

Grouping attractions is nothing new for the Disney veteran. Group 1 and Group 2 attraction options brings the old Tier 1 and Tier 2 attractions from the FastPass+ days back into play.  

Group 1 Attractions

Group 1 attractions are your most popular attractions and you will only be able to reserve one per day.  They are as follows: 

• Magic Kingdom: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
• Epcot: Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Soarin’ Around the World
• Hollywood Studios: Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Slinky Dog Dash
• Animal Kingdom: There are no group 1 attractions for this park. 

Group 2 Attractions

Group 2 attraction are most of the other attractions not included in Lightning Lane Single Pass or Group 1. These are attractions like, Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear,  Winnie the Pooh, The Living Seas with Nemo and Friends, Living with the Land, and Tower of Terror just to name a few.

With these updates, Disney has made it easier to plan your park visits and enjoy your favorite attractions with less hassle.
