Exploring Bimini: A Perfect Port Day Guide

Bimini is becoming an increasingly popular cruise port, offering visitors a variety of ways to spend their day beyond the standard cruise line excursions. Whether you’re looking for a luxurious beach club, a cultural adventure, or a laid-back day of exploration, Bimini has something for everyone.

Resort World Beach Club

If you’re sailing with Virgin Voyages, you’ll have complimentary access to Resort World Beach Club, a stunning beachfront escape. If you’re cruising with another line, you may still be able to visit for around $40 per person, provided a Virgin ship isn’t docked at the same time.

At Resort World Beach Club, you’ll find:

  • A large pool and pristine beach with ample seating
  • In-pool lounge chairs and day beds on the beach
  • Lunch and a drink menu to enjoy throughout the day
  • Bar service (Virgin Voyages passengers can charge drinks to their onboard tab)

To get there, simply hop on the tram from the pier and enjoy a scenic ride to the club. If you’re looking for the best seating, it’s recommended to arrive early—by 10 AM, prime spots may already be taken.

Free Beaches in Bimini

If you prefer a budget-friendly beach day, there are several free beaches on the island. One is right off the pier, but during our visit, it wasn’t a popular choice due to an unpleasant smell that day. There are additional beaches further along the coast that offer better conditions. Most of these beaches have chairs and umbrellas available for rent, so be sure to check pricing before settling in.

Renting a Golf Cart to Explore Bimini

One of the best ways to explore Bimini is by renting a golf cart. This is a fun and efficient way to see the island at your own pace. When you disembark, you can either:

  • Walk about 10 minutes straight down the pier and turn left at the circle
  • Take the trolley to Fisherman’s Wharf, where you’ll find multiple golf cart rental vendors

Expect to be approached by several rental operators—this is a great chance to ask questions or negotiate pricing. Generally, prices start at $80-$100 for the day, but rates may vary depending on demand and weather conditions.

Key Stops for a Day of Exploration

If you’re renting a golf cart, most of the attractions are on the southern portion of North Bimini, accessible via a single main road. Here’s the highlights and recommendations from our trip:

  1. Start early (before 9 AM) and drive to the southern tip of the island. This area offers breathtaking views and crystal-clear water.
  2. The Shipwreck – A fascinating stop, though the real highlight is the stunning scenery at the island’s edge.
  3. Radio Beach – A great spot to grab a drink at the beachside bar. Beach chairs are available for rent here.
  4. Dolphin House Museum – A unique museum constructed from recycled materials. Even if you don’t go inside, the exterior is worth seeing.
  5. Shopping & Local Eats – Stop by local vendors for souvenirs and refreshments. Popular food spots include:
    • Suart’s Conch Salad Stand – A must-try for fresh seafood lovers.
    • Edith’s Pizza – Highly recommended by locals, though it can get busy.
  6. Spook Hill Cemetery & Hidden Beach – A serene, lesser-known beach located behind the cemetery. You’ll need to navigate a rocky path, but the secluded, crystal-clear waters and ship views make it worth the trek.

Other Activities to Consider

If you have extra time, you might also want to check out:

The Casino at the North End – A great option for those looking to try their luck before heading back to the ship.

Kayak Beach – Located across from the cruise port, a relaxing spot for nature lovers.

Final Thoughts

Bimini offers a mix of relaxation, adventure, and culture, making it an ideal port stop for any type of traveler. Whether you opt for Resort World Beach Club, explore the island by golf cart, or simply find a quiet beach to unwind, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience.

As I grew up, my main bucket list item became to visit all 50 states (which I just completed in 2023 with an island-hopping trip in Hawaii)! When asked what my favorite type of vacation is I never have an answer – I love to do it all! And now being a mom of two young kids it has been fun getting more into the family vacations for our own family.I plan vacations because I love to help people have the best experience and make unforgettable memories.
